I expected to be given a few tips on how to cut out processed foods, which was my goal. Kyla took the time to get to know me, my family's needs, my time and budget constraints, and gave me numerous recipes and strategies. I learned so many things to shift and change about my habits, and knowing that I was going to be accountable in our meetings every few weeks helped me put the plan into action.  
I loved Kyla's positivity. I was nervous going in that I would feel bad about what I was eating. But Kyla really focused on what I was already doing right, and how I could make some swaps to improve. When I pushed back with excuses (it's too pricey, I don't have time, no one will eat that...) she really listened and problem solved. I left each session feeling empowered, not shamed.
I will recommend Kyla to everyone--especially moms who are in charge of what their family eats. I will say that Kyla will change your life. Nutrition is such a basic elemental part of each day, but easy to not pay attention to. Kyla helped me change my eating, shopping and cooking habits so I can be a better mom to my kids.
I was super impressed with Kyla's dedication and follow up to each session. She and I met three times over the course of a couple months. In between sessions, she emailed to check in, gave me recipes based on my specific needs, and tips for how to prepare foods to last the week. Because she has experience with lots of different diet restrictions and is a new mom herself, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone. I am hard pressed to think of another way to spend a few hours and get such long lasting and important change. I am so pleased.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Kyla Brown when I contacted her for nutrition and weight loss counseling.  Throughout my lifetime, I have tried many different ways to keep healthy and also lose weight effectively.  With one on one counseling from Kyla, I learned how to understand what foods I was craving and how my body interacts with this food, and by her encouragement and dedication, I made simple adjustments that gave me more energy and good steady weight changes.   I did not restrict my eating habits entirely, but with her assistance, she showed me how to read labels and introduce nutritional food items into my diet and taught me which foods encourage a healthier lifestyle and better living.

Kyla and I met through a mutual friend. I ended up utilizing her nutritional services last year when my husband and I were ready to try getting pregnant. My husband is vegan and my diet is largely vegetarian/pescatarian, so I wanted to make sure I was getting optimal nutrients and protein leading up to and during (and now post!) pregnancy.

I consider myself pretty well informed when it comes to healthy eating, so to be frank I wasn't expecting to learn a ton. But after a few sessions, Kyla really helped me fine-tune my diet and maintain more energy throughout the day. By discussing my food diary and goals in our one-on-one sessions, she pinpointed several simple, everyday ways to improve my nutrition and make healthy meals even healthier. She also introduced me to some delicious recipes (hello, almond maca smoothie). I walked away learning more than I was expecting to, and looking back I feel so fortunate to have worked with her. Throughout my pregnancy, I stayed active and ate healthy (minus a short stretch of time in the first trimester where I couldn't stomach anything beyond toast and almond butter :)

I would happily recommend Kyla to any mama or mama-to-be looking for nutritional guidance. She's informed, friendly and candid...all around a pleasure to work with.

Kyla teaches you how to eat healthy whole foods in a way that is not overwhelming.  She starts with small changes that feel very doable, but those small things add up to a much healthier lifestyle.  Through my sessions with her, I gave up diet coke (which I thought would be impossible, but I did it), started cooking hot, nutritious breakfasts for my children (which they love) and learned to cut out processed foods and sugar.  All of these changes were made over time and I never felt deprived.  

I was hoping to eat healthier, lose weight and learn to cook some healthy food for my family. Yes! All of my expectations were met. I made several small changes that had a big impact on our diet, I lost 15 pounds, and I feel so much better. 

Kyla is very personable, high energy, interesting and knowledgeable so I really, really enjoyed meeting with her. On weeks when I was struggling to stay motivated, our meetings always encouraged me to get back on track. Kyla was a great source of inspiration during the process I could not have made these changes without her!!

Kyla supplied fabulous recipes, great advice, lots of encouragement and emails that are packed full of information that I will use for years from now!

I've made changes to my diet that will benefit me (and my family) for life!  It's hard to describe how great it feels to pass along this knowledge to my children and know that I'm setting them up with a lifetime of healthy eating habits! 

I wish I had met Kyla when I was pregnant. I feel that I would have had a much easier and healthy pregnancy if I had made the dietary changes while pregnant! Now I eat a lot of healthy protein, very little sugar and almost no processed foods.

Kyla counseled me and my partner on nutrition & meal planning. She had us record a food journal for 3 days, which was actually really fun and eye-opening for me. One of my concerns was that I had eczema on my hand that I knew was related to my eating. I had been following the advice of another practitioner for months and still the rash wasn't clearing up. After meeting with Kyla and making just a few modifications, my rash started improving immediately and went away after a couple days. I was totally not expecting that from our work together! Another concern was that both my partner and I don't have a ton of interest in spending a lot of time on food, and that was making us eat kinda crappy at times. She helped us brainstorm how we could be getting the nutrients we needed by giving us very practical, easy and realistic suggestions. It was inspiring! After our consultation, we've implemented ways to make it super easy for us to eat well. We're eating a whole lot better and more balanced, and feeling really great about it.

I was hoping to become healthier and lose weight. I had been very ill due to rheumatoid arthritis and I was on a lot of medications including prednisone.  Kyla really helped me focus on what nutrients my body needed , and how to get it from food and living a healthier lifestyle. Her advice made sense to me.

It has been a long journey but I have lost 23lbs and I am no longer on prednisone or many of the medications that I was taking. She really helped me obtain my goals.


Kyla was very knowledgeable and caring. She really listened to my concerns and encouraged me to continue reaching my goals. I continue on this journey to stay as healthy as I can.
